Thought for October

Categories: UncategorizedTags: 1.2 min read

It is not often that I open my Bible and set out to actually read through the Psalms but last week I was reading Psalm 8 and an image came back to me from earlier in the summer. We were sitting under an high bridge looking down the river at the most amazing firework display. Music played from further down stream and the fireworks rose and danced in the sky filling the darkness with wonderful coloured light. For over 20 minutes the skill of the technicians filled me with admiration; then with an extra burst of magnificence and a mighty bang it was all over. Gradually my eyes readjusted and there in the sky was an even more magnificent display with the stars of our galaxy stretching away into the vast eternity of space. Two displays in one evening was almost too much to take in but the words from that Psalm 8 brought it all back to me, they are in verses 3 onwards and read like this … When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him …

If you have read this and have a Bible in your house or can borrow one for a few moments, just read on a little because such great design as we can see every day, has to have had a great designer.
