Thought for April 2017

As I sit here in my favourite chair, a strange tapping noise can be heard. It has been going on for at least three weeks and I have managed to trace it to a curious battle that is going on. A very small but ferocious male Blue tit, defending his territory and determined to fight any intruders that might threaten his mate caring for the tiny chicks in her nest, has discovered in the four shiny door handle plates on our French doors, four reflections of himself that must be defeated! The tiny bird attacks each one with vigor and ferocity that he has to repeat many times a day and has done so for many days. I sit and marvel at his determination but as so often with these musings, my mind goes to some words of the Apostle Paul, written from a Roman  prison, a chain restricting his movements, they are in his letter to the church in Philippi chapter 3 verses 13 and 14. If you have a Bible or can borrow one for a moment just have a look at those words and remember that little brave Blue tit.
