September – Foundation of the Christadelphian Beliefs

Recently I have been thinking about what it means to be a Christadelphian and how our beliefs differ from the mainstream Christian faiths.  I personally, I have been brought up in a Christadelphian family and the teachings of the community.  However, there are many of our members who have not been brought up this way and have been brought into our community from in quite unexpected ways and they have some amazing stories to tell.

What I really like about our ethos is that we are encouraged to search the Bible for answers and it is the Bible alone that we take our direction.  There is a document that has been written called the Christadelphian Statement of Faith which outlines the principles of our beliefs and it states:

THE FOUNDATION — That the book currently known as the Bible, consisting of the Scriptures of Moses, the prophets, and the apostles, is the only source of knowledge concerning God and His purposes at present extant or available in the earth, and that the same were wholly given by inspiration of God in the writers, and are consequently without error in all parts of them, except such as may be due to errors of transcription or translation. (This paragraph was added in 1886.)
