January – A New Beginning

Throughout the year I publish the special thoughts written by different members of our Christadelphian community in Petersfield.  Last month took me on holiday so unfortunately I failed to publish a thought for December, I know that we have many readers who will have been disappointed so please accept my sincere apologies.

For many, December is the month that they remember the birth of our Lord Jesus and January brings in a brand new New Year.  These two events celebrate new beginnings.  Both the birth of our Lord and the beginning of a new year bring new hope and opportunity for everyone.  We have the opportunity to change old habits or start new ones, we perhaps look for ways to address our concerns with the ways of the world whether that is environmentally or politically and to start afresh.  With the hope that we have in the Lord Jesus we can be helped to do just that.

Every year my general resolution is to “do better” and perhaps you do the same.  The apostle Paul in Romans Chapter 12 gives this advice.  “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will”.  Some good advice that I can certainly use to form the basis of this years’ resolution.

Whatever you do in 2019 I hope that it is a good one and if it is a new beginning you are looking for you may like to join us on the new course in Waterlooville from February.
