August – Did you know?

Did you know that we don’t need to fear the Devil, because he doesn’t exist!

There really is no such thing as a powerful supernatural agent of evil!  In fact, the Bible teaches something quite different about the causes of sin and puts the blame squarely on Adam, and on us, his descendants.   Just look at what it says in Romans 5 v 12 “ through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned” In the rest of the chapter we learn that  evil came into the world because Adam listened to the serpent and disobeyed God. It was Adam’s disobedience which set in motion the chain of events that results in us having human nature and this human nature is what results in sin and death (Romans 7 vv 18-23).

True, the English Bible does have words like ‘devil’ and ‘Satan’ in it, but these are just translations of Greek words with everyday meanings such as slanderer’ and ‘adversary’, whilst the word ‘demon’ in the Bible is used in the context of illness.  You can find out more about this subject and decide for yourself whether all this makes sense here:
