Acts: Chapter 2

Fifty days after the Passover Feast, Pentecost was celebrated, so Jerusalem would have been bustling with visitors from many nations.

There were five us at Winton House to read this very important chapter.
Fifty days after the Passover Feast, Pentecost was celebrated, so Jerusalem would have been bustling with visitors from many nations.
Acts 2:1-4 describe the way in which the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit. They were able to speak in other languages.
Acts 2:5-12 records the way Jesus’ disciples could now preach to all the visiting Jews.
Acts 2:17-18, Peter quoted a passage from the Old Testament prophesy of Joel. These words showed that God knew hundreds of years before Jesus was born, that after his death, the disciples would need the assistance of the Holy Spirit to convince the Jews that Jesus was the promised Messiah Somebody asked about Acts 2:19-21; those events didn’t happen. We must assume that in they are telling us about the furfure.
Acts 2:22-28 show powerful preaching by Peter, The people were “cut to the heart” and in Acts 2:37 they asked
“Brethren, what shall we do?”
Peter answered,
“Repent and be baptised every one of you in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; …” Acts 2:41 records that about three thousand people were baptised that day. Some versions leave the word ‘people’ out, whereas others use the word ‘soul.’
The rest of the chapter tells us how the rapidly expanding Christian church operated.
