Genesis 12 & 13

In Genesis 11 we read that, after leaving the city of Ur, Abram lived with his father Terah, wife Sarai and nephew Lot in Haran. He lived there until his father died.
Genesis 12 v 1 – 3 reminds us of the reason why Abram and his family were told to leave Ur and travel to the land of Canaan

This chapter lists the offspring of the sons of Noah and shows how their descendants multiplied and spread out into the regions around about, becoming separate nations in the process.

We talked about Noah’s faith in God and how this had brought him, his family and all the animals through the terror of the flood.

Genesis: Chapter 8

Chapter 8 opens with God remembering Noah’s family and all the creatures in the ark. The waters subsided.

Genesis: Chapter 7

We recalled that in Genesis 6 v 22 Noah did everything that God had asked him to do in preparation for the flood. Now, in Genesis 7 v 1 Noah is invited, by God, to go into the safety of the ark with all his family because he has shown himself to be a righteous man.

This week we looked at Genesis chapter 6 and talked about the things that were happening on the earth prior to the flood.

Genesis: Chapter 5

We also talked about the lifespan of the first descendants of Adam. It was interesting to see that Adam lived for 930 years and saw the birth of Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah and Lamech. Adam also saw many of his descendants choosing to follow their own way rather than the way of God.
